While I've had my Instant Pot for a long time, it took me awhile to really start using it. If you're doing the same, jump in! I love the concept - super fast, hands-off cooking. This "recipe" is simple and easy. You'll never buy applesauce again! I highly suggest organic apples. I make mine with the peels, and apples are on the Dirty Dozen list.
Tart green apples have made the best applesauce for us, as the cooking process makes them much sweeter. If you want a really sweet applesauce, then by all means choose a sweeter apple. Any will work!
Roughly chop the apples, everything except the stem, core, and seeds. Leave the peels on. Add them to the instant pot with about 1/4 cup of water.
Set the Instant Pot to manual, high, for 8 minutes. Remove the lid and let it cool a bit. Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture up more. Add some ground cinnamon and 1-2 drops of Young Living lemon oil (optional!).
That's it! SO easy. If you want to be fancy, we toasted some cashews, walnuts, hemp seeds, chia seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, pumpkin pie spice and a touch of vanilla powder in a pan for a few minutes, and then mixed that into the warm applesauce.
6 apples, organic preferred (tart green apples work well, anything will do!)
1/4 cup of water
ground cinnamon to taste
Young Living lemon oil - optional but delicious!
1. Wash and roughly chop apples, removing just stems, cores, and seeds and leaving the peel.
2. Place in Instant Pot with 1/4 cup of water.
3. Set to manual, high, for 8 minutes.
4. After venting and removing the lid, let cool a bit.
5. Use an immersion blender to fully combine. Add cinnamon and essential oil (if using) and mix.
This recipe could easily be doubled. It doesn't last long here! Enjoy.
