We've been (slowly!) doing the KonMari Method for awhile now. Marie Kondo's book, The Life-Changing Art of Tidying Up, is just that - life-changing. It's amazing. We LOVE it. It makes it easier to keep our home clean. Easier to come and go from our travels, which is pretty often. The KonMari Method is pretty specific about what to do, how to do it, the order, rationale, etc. And that's great for many people...but can be so hard for a family with young children. What's in your soap? And your shampoo, conditioner, lotion and whatever else? Your skin is incredibly absorbent and the products you choose matter. Chemicals in everyday products can cause skin and respiratory irritation, autoimmune disease, infertility, birth defects, cancer and more. This is particularly important for babies and children. They are exposed to larger doses because of their relative size, and their skin can be more sensitive. Unfortunately products labeled for children are not necessarily any safer.

Ditch the Plastic! Nontoxic Dishes for Children

My favorite nontoxic cups, plates and more for your favorite littles. There are SO many reasons to avoid plastic. Environmental reasons are definitely a motivating factor for us, but my primary concern is the safety of what my child is eating from. Most of us are familiar with the concerns regarding BPA now - acting as endocrine disruptors in your child, primarily with a concern for synthetic estrogens. A few years ago there was a new wave of BPA-free plastics introduced. Unfortunately we now know that these may be even more harmful than the BPA products! Yikes. This is especially worrisome for little girls. What's a mama to do?!
