Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 2015 has been fantastic, and I know next year will be even more amazing. I'm grateful. So thankful. Right now is the perfect time of year to reflect and plan. This is your life. What do you REALLY want it to be like?! Make it happen. Here are some things we are thinking about for 2016.

We're definitely into traveling and seeing new places. I don't know where exactly yet, but something fun. Travel with a toddler is different...but it's still amazing and fun, and I truly believe a valuable experience for her. And, I just can't seem to stop even if it's more work with a child. Gypsy in my soul:)

Anyone else doing this?! We are in massive decluttering mode. We started awhile ago but still have quite a bit to do. I love the concept. Mindfully creating a home that is exactly what you want. Minimizing all the extra "stuff" you think you need but really don't. Being able to find exactly what you want quickly. Even though we aren't done yet, I can already feel the benefits. It's easier to clean up. Easier to pack/unpack when we travel. Easier to have guests stay.  Beyond just cleaning up the clutter, we're putting some thought into creating the space that we all want to live in. More child friendly things that can easily be integrated into our home. A nice flow throughout the house, with some new plants and beautiful things. Eliminating the last bit of remaining plastic from our kitchen (almost there!).

Family Nature Time

This has always been important to us, but sometimes life gets in the way. Renewing our commitment to get lots of outdoor play time, family friendly hiking, and anything related.

It's so hard, I'm interested in everything and I want to do everything! Say yes to everything, go everywhere. Live it up. But for a variety of reasons, this has caused me to be really, really hard on myself sometimes. The end of this year has really been a wake up for me to take better care of myself. So - I'm practicing slowing down, taking it all in, and doing things well instead of doing everything:)

What does 2016 look like for you? What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?!

The Summer Day

Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear?

Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean-the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.

Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.

I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall downinto the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
